On August 18th the nominations closed for the Quebec election and a stunning 894 candidates are running in the 125 ridings. This works out to 7.15 candidates riding, a dramatic increase for the norm of 5.2 to 5.4 over the last five elections. This represents close to two more candidates per riding than in past elections.

2007 679 5.43
2003 646 5.17
