State of nominations for the May 2013 BC Election

Here is how the list currently stands of candidates nominated for the May 2013 election:

BC NDP - 67 - 25 women
BC Liberals - 46 - 14 women
Greens - 18 - 4 women (they are not running candidates against Bob Simpson or Vicki Huntingdon)
BC Conservatives - 6 - 0 women
BC First - 2 - 0 women
Independents - 6 - 1 woman

Of the plethora of other political parties in BC, none of them have stated they have any candidates nominated for the election next May.

It is still early in the process and is more a piece of trivia than crucial information about the election.   The NDP nominated a lot of candidates in case there was an early election so their numbers are higher for that reason.

I am impressed where the Liberals are at, though they still have a long way to go.   With so many sitting MLAs not running and some issues in 2009 in finding candidates, they are doing better than I expected.

The Greens seem be much further ahead of the curve than they were in previous elections.

The BC Conservatives I suspect are behind because of all the problems over the summer and fall.
