More trivial factoids on BC politics - the stats on by-elections

(updated after the two by-elections on April 19th)
Looking back to 1933, which is what I consider the start of modern BC politics

Incumb party  races   won   lost  total won
CCF/NDP         10     10     0     25
Coalition       11      7     4      7
Liberals        18     12     6     17
Social Credit   20     10    10     11
Conservative     2      1     1      1
Govt  held      38     20    18
Opposition held 23     21     2

In total, 20 of the 61 by-elections have changed hands but almost all those losses have been by the government of the day.

Interestingly the NDP has never defended in a by-election when they were government and they have never lost a seat they were the incumbents going in.

I am not sure this means anything,
