Why Westside Kelowna?

The margin of victory for the Liberals in Westside Kelowna was decent in 2013 but certainly not the best for the party.   It is also clearly the weakest Kelowna seat for the Liberals

Difference between the Liberals and NDP in percentage ponts

  1. West Vancouver-Capilano 44.65
  2. Vancouver-Quilchena     39.00
  3. Kelowna-Lake Country    31.98
  4. Kelowna-Mission         31.02
  5. Surrey-Cloverdale       30.47
  6. Surrey-White Rock       30.45
  7. Fort Langley-Aldergrove 29.22
  8. Westside Kelowna        27.86

In the first seven seats the Liberals more than doubled the NDP vote.

Difference between the Liberals and NDP in total votes

  1. West Vancouver-Capilano 10,501
  2. Surrey-Cloverdale        9,224
  3. Vancouver-Quilchena      8,791
  4. Fort Langley-Aldergrove  8,478
  5. Surrey-White Rock        7,912
  6. Kelowna-Mission          7,466
  7. Kelowna-Lake Country     6,643
  8. Langley                  6,636
  9. Westside-Kelowna         6,586

One more seat that would be a very safe Liberal one would be Peace River North.  The shift to the Okanagan and then to a riding other than the strongest Liberal one is a bit odd.   Was no one else willing to step aside?
