Really, this hysteria about smart meters is getting insane. Colwood has brought forward a motion for the 2011 UBCM. I am not even going to begin to debate this, I just shake my head at the general lack of knowledge of basic physics.

AND WHEREAS BC Hydro is proceeding with its program to install wireless smart meters in British Columbia although it recognizes there is active discussion and ongoing research into the possible health and environmental effects related to radio frequency signals and it is aware the World Health Organization has called for further investigation on this matter in its press release issued on May 31,2011:
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that a moratorium be placed on the mandatory installation of wireless smart meters until the major issues and problems identified regarding wireless smart meters are independently assessed and acceptable alternatives can be made available at no added cost to the consumer.

The City of Victoria council passed a similar motion at their August 25 meeting. I believe they decided to write a letter to BC Hydro and also to raise the issue at the UBCM. I can't remember the exact wording or recommended actions because there were some amendments and debate about the whole issue.
Many municipalities throughout BC have passed moratoriums similar to Colwoods and the majority of municipalities in eater Victoria have passed them.
Probably the reason you don not understand t6he concern is you are shaking your head too much and the ratteling is causing a problem for you. The radiation emited on a constant bases by the meters and will be emitted on a constant bases by the "smart appliances" if one is dumb enough to get them is in the same class that the WHO/IARC is concerned about and the radiation specialist at the BC CDC recommends we reduce our exposure to.
