As of yesterday, the 91st anniversary of Estonian independence, voting started in their election and that voting can be done online. Estonia is the first country to allow for internet voting and as far as I know the only that has it currently in place.
What is cool is that you can vote online and change your vote between now and March 2nd as many times as you want. You can also be anywhere and vote.
Estonia is rapidly moving into being the most technologically advanced country in the world. In 1940, when Estonia was invaded and occupied, it was the most technological country in the world. Fifty years of Soviet and Nazi occupation did a lot of damage to the country but they have done an amazing job recovering in the last 20 years. They have managed to pass us in Canada in that short time.
One hopes that in a couple of elections people here in Canada will see that internet voting works and works well and will be willing to introduce it in this country. I am sure that the Vabariigi Valimiskomisjon of Estonia would be willing to come and show us how it is done.

Haven't been able to access Mr. Kelleher's writings on this important subject but, before your readers reach any firm conclusion, may I suggest that they have a look at my blog: http://electedbyamachine.blogspot.com
and the many references cited there (it has its own section on 'Internet Voting'), with just one of many relevant references being:
